About Sunflowers

Sunflowers was launched in April 2026 by me, Elijah Tarabulsi. I write about current political events, history, and philosophy, primarily through a leftist lens.

This is just another blog by a leftist unhappy with the state of the world today. If your interest lies solely in learning more about leftist politics/philosophy and engaging with leftist organizations as they exist today, this blog is not going to be the best way to do that. There are already many existing online sources of information to learn more about leftist philosophy and many existing leftist political organizations. (see the "Reading Recs" section for some of those resources)

Instead, this blog is for those who may be interested in listening to takes by me: the son of immigrants who grew up living in the imperial core (as a financially poor religious and ethnic minority) with an interest in history (particularly as it pertains to the Middle East and Latin America) and leftist politics, and using that to try to make sense of current events and determining the best way forward.

Feel free to explore the following sections of the website: a list of reading recommendations (books, podcasts, news sources), reviews and opinions on media I'm currently consuming, short-form musings on current events, and long-form essays.
